German Pezzella admits Fiorentina have taken his ‘soul’ after affirming he wants to stay at the club permanently.

Pezzella joined Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy last summer, and the former Real Betis defender praised his teammates for being on “the same wavelength” as each other.

“World Cup with Argentina? First of all, I have to do well here,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“Only this way will I be able to convince Sampaoli to call me up and Fiorentina to keep me permanently.

“I’m someone who takes nothing for granted. Florence is a city that immediately entered my soul: I feel very good here.

“Experience at River Plate? You’re expected to win at River, always. I was there for 10 years and that's why I’m programmed to win.

“We’re all on the same wavelength at Fiorentina, even though we know that we’re a team that have been rebuilt from scratch.

“Our first thought, every time we play, is always to be able to overcome our opponents: we try to put great quality in our work, aware that we must lay one brick at a time.

“That’s why we’re only focused on Cagliari.”
