Senad Lulic got the decisive goal after just five minutes, but while the Viola poured forward for the second half, they only really threatened with a Federico Chiesa strike.

“What we were missing was a first half performance,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“We were imprecise and not very dangerous. After the break, we took the initiative, but it wasn’t enough to get the situation back on track.

“I think we deserved more time, because in the second half there were a lot of stoppages. The goal after five minutes came out of nowhere.

“The plan was for Chiesa to play wide on the left as one of the forwards, but Lazio did well to force him back. We weren’t incisive enough in the final third.

“There was quality in the build-up, but then we lacked that final ball. We wanted to get through to the semi-final, but now we have to get ready for Milan in Serie A.”
