Roma and Vincenzo Montella’s Sevilla have both reportedly joined the race to sign Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj.

According to La Nazione, Fiorentina “would like” to sell Badelj in January as he remains no nearer to extending his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

Lazio and Milan were thought to be at the front of the queue for the Croatian, but the newspaper notes he is looking to play in the Champions League.

Consequently, that would have opened the door to Roma and Sevilla, both of whom have reached the tournament’s last-16 phase.

The 28-year-old is also eligible to play in the Champions League as Fiorentina are not participating in European competition this season.
