Roma were extremely disappointing in the 2-1 home defeat to 10-man Atalanta, but did anyone impress in the Football Italia Player Ratings?

Alisson –  5

Was well beaten by the Andreas Cornelius curling side footed shot which crept in at the far post. Couldn’t do much about Atalanta’s second, as it took a huge deflection on its way through.

Alessandro Florenzi – 5

Alisson –  5

Was well beaten by the Andreas Cornelius curling side footed shot which crept in at the far post. Couldn’t do much about Atalanta’s second, as it took a huge deflection on its way through.

Alessandro Florenzi – 5

Was up against the wiliest of players in Papu Gomez and struggled during the first half. Was rattled by the little magician’s presence and elected to hoof the ball up the field on occasion instead of taking it down and building the play.

Federico Fazio – 5

Atalanta identified his lack of pace as something to exploit and he struggled to keep up with Cornelius.

Kostas Manolas –  5.5

Another defender that struggled to cope with the late runs into the box and movement of the Nerazzurri players.

Aleksandar Kolarov – 5

Went down easy to get Marten De Roon harshly sent off for a second bookable offence. Tried to get up and down the left flank, but like his teammates, just couldn’t find that final pass.

Lorenzo Pellegrini– 6

Was his side’s brightest spark in the first half before being replaced by Patrik Schick early in the second. A puzzling substitution.

Maxime Gonalons – 5

His positioning and decision-making was poor in the first half, and he certainly looked like a man lacking in confidence, one who hadn’t had too much game time lately.  Got a little better in the second as the away side dropped deep to defend their lead.

Kevin Strootman – 5.5

Should probably have played in the Gonalons role, as his tactical nous would better suited to sitting and dictating the play in front of the defence.

Diego Perotti – 5

Was anonymous in the first half. Moved into a central role in the second as Roma pushed up higher against the 10 men, but couldn’t find the space to work in.

Edin Dzeko – 6

Came within a whisker with a shot before the break, just to prove to anyone doubting that he was even on the field. Scored a fine left-footed goal early in the second half to give his side a glimmer of hope of a comeback.

Stephan El Shaarawy – 6

Was dangerous early in the first half and had one decent strike before he was put on to the back foot in helping Florenzi double up on Papu Gomez defensively.

Substitutes:

Patrick Schick– 5

Made a few dribbling runs and tried some give and goes, but had no end product.

Cengiz Under– 5

Replaced Strootman for the last 15 minutes as Eusebio Di Francesco threw all his attacking options on.

Bruno Peres– N/A
