Ounas has yet to start for Napoli in Serie A or the Champions League since his €10m arrival from Bordeaux last summer, but the winger insists he is “not impatient at all” and will “work hard every day” for his chance.

“I’d say that I started well at Napoli,” he told El Heddaf.

“Sarri had warned me about the minutes I’d get before I arrived. He told me that I’d only make fleeting appearances.

“Still, I think things are going well, given I’ve already made two appearances as a starter. Now it’s up to me to work hard every day in training, to get more minutes and climb the pecking order.

“I’m not impatient at all: I’m 21 years old and I’m aware of the room for improvement I have.

“I have to improve from a tactical point of view, especially in the defensive phase.

“Like the Coach always told me, you either have the talent or you don’t. Therefore, all I need to do is work well, so I can learn quickly.

“When you go to a big club like Napoli you need points of reference to guide yourself and settle in.

“Here, Ghoulam and Koulibaly have helped me so much: they’re like two older brothers. They’ve always been by my side to give me advice, and I want to thank them.

“I’m proud to have made my debut in the Champions League, I was moved by the anthem and then I made some appearances, trying to put what Sarri asked of me into action, changing games with assists or goals.

“Will I leave the club in January? Sarri has faith in me and until someone tells me that I’ll be loaned out in January, I’ll stay.

“I’m here to learn and get minutes. I want to grow through the work I do with the Coach.”
