Diego Perotti and Maxime Gonalons are not even in the squad due to injury, while De Rossi is not fully fit either and remains a doubt to start with his calf problem.

If the veteran isn’t able to play from the beginning at San Siro, then Coach Eusebio Di Francesco could reshuffle his pack.

Nainggolan may well be moved to a more advanced role to form part of the trident attack with Edin Dzeko – in perhaps his last game before a transfer to Chelsea – and Stephan El Shaarawy.

Florenzi is another alternative for the right side of the trident, as he can play as a right-back, in midfield or in attack, bringing in Bruno Peres.

However, if De Rossi doesn’t start, then Nainggolan would be needed with Kevin Strootman in the middle of the park.

Luciano Spalletti has no such concerns, as Inter have a full squad to choose from, and Davide Santon is the favourite to start at left-back rather than Yuto Nagatomo.

Joao Miranda is available again after several weeks out.

Inter (probable): Handanovic; Cancelo, Skriniar, Miranda, Santon; Vecino, Gagliardini; Candreva, Borja Valero, Perisic; Icardi

Roma (probable): Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Strootman, De Rossi, Pellegrini; Nainggolan, Dzeko, El Shaarawy
