Marco Giampaolo “saw my Sampdoria again” in a 3-1 victory over Fiorentina and hailed hat-trick hero Fabio Quagliarella.

“It was a good performance, sprightly and sparkling. I really enjoyed it and saw my Sampdoria again in a game that was never in doubt,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“Quagliarella proved once again he is a great player, with remarkable confidence right now. He knows how to move, when to shake off his marker, how to pass the ball. That’s all down to a wealth of experience, but on top of that, he runs like a kid too. His fitness levels are amazing.

“Perhaps we needed that two-week break, because we had lost sharpness and weren’t enjoying our football the same way we did at the beginning.

“The team was playing with a worry hanging over it and I told them to just take it one game at a time.”
