The 20-year-old striker is a sensation in Argentina and fresh from scoring a hat-trick at the weekend, giving him seven goals and three assists in just eight Primera Division matches this season.

There is some confusion over the figures around the deal, but Sky Sport Italia claim it’ll be €20m plus €2m bonuses.

On top of that, Racing Club will get to keep 10 per cent of any future sale Inter make on the player.

It’s believed Inter will impose a release clause on his contract of minimum €110m.

“It is a dream for him to play in a Buenos Aires club, but an even bigger dream to go to Europe,” his father Mario Martinez told Secta Deportiva.

“He is very strong-willed, which is why he finds himself in this position right now. He had many offers, but he will decide on his destiny himself.

“He’s a lad who remembers where he came from and who helped him along the way. Along with being a great player, he is also very humble.”
