Atalanta’s Leonardo Spinazzola admits he regrets resorting to social media with the intention of forcing through a return to Juventus.

Spinazzola described rejoining Juve as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity and a ‘dream last summer, despite still being contracted to Atalanta, although the wingback has ended up honouring his two-year loan.

“Have my performances dropped off because I’m thinking about Juve? My head was at Juventus in August, but since the end of the summer, it’s always been at Atalanta,” he told Corriere di Bergamo.

“I’m a professional and not a fool: letting myself be influenced would mean hurting myself first because I’d go home with the bad feeling of not having given everything to the thing that I love the most.

“Also, it’s because in this world, we must always show what we’re capable of, especially in light of where I’ll be going.

“Easier to reach the Coppa Italia Final or go through in Europe? Who knows… We want to go far in all competitions.

“I’d like to give the fans another Europa League qualification. Something I regret? I don’t know, but I can say that the biggest disappointment was that message on social media in August.

“If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t do it again.”
