Gennaro Gattuso hopes to “stay at Milan for as long as possible” and admits he “stole” ideas from Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo.

“We need our fans and their enthusiasm,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“The defence has been excellent and not just the centre-backs. Leonardo Bonucci should set the example to this team, as he is a champion who always trains to the max, harangues everyone and puts passion into everything he does.

“I am proud to be his Coach and consider it a privilege. We all hope to raise the bar. I hope to stay at Milan for as long as possible, that is my main priority. I am the last problem this club has to worry about.

“I am grateful to Massimiliano Mirabelli and Marco Fassone for this opportunity. People could call and offer me anything from abroad, but if there’s a chance of staying at Milan, then I am staying.

“The only reason I accepted this job was because I saw a club that wanted me at all costs. I feel the pressure even in training and put great effort into everything I do. I tried to experience things differently, but I prefer to suffer.”

Gattuso took the coaching badges in the same class as Sampdoria boss Giampaolo.

“I won’t lie, I stole a lot of ideas from Giampaolo. I know what a fine Coach he is and am very worried, because this is a very difficult game in which we cannot make mistakes. If you make an error, Samp will not let you get away with it.

“It’s important we improve our performances and become more consistent. At times we’re too predictable, we lose the ball when dribbling out of defence and don’t develop our play.”

Franck Kessie is suspended, so the midfield will have to change.

“I think we can adjust for his absence, but everyone must give at least one per cent more, because we don’t have another player with his characteristics.

“The important thing is that everyone gives their all for the team, whether they play or not, and make a big impact when coming off the bench, the way Fabio Borini and Ricardo Rodriguez did.”

Nikola Kalinic is still out injured, so 20-year-old sensation Patrick Cutrone is expected to start.

“He is young, let’s not put too much pressure on him. Patrick has to work hard on the field and relax off it. I hope he can find himself a beautiful girlfriend to relax and make love with.”
