It is reported that Milan have held initial talks over signing Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina this summer.

The Spanish shot-stopper’s contract at the San Paolo expires at the end of the season and he is still yet to sign a new deal.

As a result, he is free to enter into negotiations with other clubs as the chances increase that he will leave the Partenopei for nothing in June.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri hierarchy remain unconvinced that current first-choice keeper Gigio Donnarumma will stay at the San Siro for the long term – and are making contingency plans.

Sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli is said to have held successful initial talks with Reina’s representatives, with an agreement reached ‘in principle’ between the parties.

However, the Italian daily claims that official confirmation of the deal remains some way off, with several details still to be ironed out.
