Simone Inzaghi praised Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile for providing Lazio with “both quality and quantity” against Sassuolo.

“I think the lads did a great job. We used up a lot of psychological more than physical energy on Thursday and the team knew an important performance was necessary today,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium after a 3-0 victory at the Mapei Stadium.

“We did well to break the deadlock early and then double our lead. The third goal finished off the game.

“Milinkovic-Savic has earned himself an important place in the side. He has immense quality, but combines it with quantity too. He is very young and wants to improve himself. He has a bright future ahead of him.

“We hope to keep as many players as possible, because to open up a new era you have to keep certain players. This summer we lost players like Keita Balde Diao, Lucas Biglia and Wesley Hoedt, but the club did well to bring in suitable replacements.

“I hope Immobile wins the Golden Boot. He is a leader and a really good guy who puts in strong performances aside from the goals.”

Lazio have set up a Europa League Round of 16 clash with Dinamo Kiev, while on Wednesday they host Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final.

“It’s an important week going forward, as we have Milan in the Coppa Italia and then Juventus. There isn’t much time to recover, but fatigue only exists if you don’t have objectives.

“The first leg of the semi-final ended 0-0, so qualification is wide open. Reaching the Coppa Italia Final is within our grasp.”
