Juventus-Atalanta has officially been called off due to heavy snowfall in Turin after a pitch inspection.

The snow had been in the city for several hours, but intensified considerably just before the warm-up.

Following a pitch inspection, there was the theory they could simply delay kick-off until another later inspection, but it has now been called off.

“The conditions are clear to all. It would certainly change the spectacle on show, not to mention potential danger for the players,” Juventus director Beppe Marotta told Mediaset Premium before the decision was made.

“We are prepared for any eventuality. Now we’ll await the referee’s pitch inspection and see if there’s a delay or a postponement.

“It’s possible to play in these conditions, but would not be a spectacle worthy of the top flight. There is also the issue we have to take into consideration of potential harm to the players.”
