Ciro Immobile is “thinking about a thousand ways I could’ve done things differently” after hitting the post in Lazio’s 2-2 draw with Dynamo Kiev.

The 28-year-old striker had scored, along with Felipe Anderson, but when sent clear with the last kick of the game, his lob sailed over the goalkeeper only to bounce off the inside of the far post.

“I am thinking about a thousand ways I could’ve done things differently,” Immobile told Sky Sport Italia.

“It would be an excuse to say I got there and wasn’t sharp due to fatigue. I felt sharp, I did what my head told me to do. Looking back at the footage, if I was to say what I was thinking… I’d be in trouble, so it’s best that I don’t!

“We mustn’t get downhearted, because we deserved more and can now go to give it our best in Ukraine. There was some bad luck, but we must give more, because evidently what we’re giving at the moment is not enough.

“The performances were there against Milan and Juventus, while we deserved the victory tonight too. We struggle against sides who clam up and go on the counter, but it’ll be the same in Kiev and we have to be prepared.”

Immobile is having the best season of his career, scoring 33 goals in 36 competitive games, along with 10 assists.

“I was thinking that a striker reaches maturity at around 27-28 years old and that’s where I am now, which is why I finish off more of my chances. I am getting closer to 30 now and if in future I see that I am losing sharpness, I’ll have to manage the game better to ensure I don’t get too tired.”
