Domenico Criscito has all-but-confirmed that he will return to Genoa this summer and revealed his goal against RB Leipzig was for Davide Astori.
Criscito has reportedly agreed a deal to re-join Genoa once his Zenit St Petersburg contract expires at the end of the season, while he scored a free kick on Thursday to bag his side a crucial away goal in their Europa League last-16 tie with Leipzig, despite their 2-1 defeat.
“Davide was a friend and an international teammate of mine,” the former Italy left-back said after the game.
“He was a special person and my goal was all for him. I’d also like to think he gave me a hand when I scored that free kick.
“Genoa? There’s still nothing official. All I can say is I will return to Italy, Genoa have been looking for me and that I have Genoa in my heart.”
