“I just have to think back to the situation around Christmas,” Fassone said in an interview with Sky.
“We came off bruising defeats to Atalanta and Verona and weren’t playing well, we can say we were under a train.

“That we can look to the future with optimism is credit to Gattuso – and [sporting director Massimiliano] Mirabelli who gave me the courage to make that choice in that moment.
“The results are surprising, the climate has changed completely.
“We’re optimistic and we believe, so it’s very nice to be coming into Saturday night’s clash with Juventus in this condition.”
