The Nerazzurri were held to a 0-0 draw by Milan in Wednesday’s rescheduled Derby della Madonnina with two rare Mauro Icardi misses.

“We have tried to create more scoring opportunities and our midfielders have it in their DNA to shoot from the edge of the box. Perhaps we ought to be stronger in the air to give Icardi a hand.

“Working at Inter gives me joy. I don’t know how far we are into the project, but now we are a team in its totality, but have the potential to achieve even more. We have the options and took a bit too long to find them, but we’re there now.

“When you’ve found the cure, the important thing is not to have a relapse. The players resolved the situation, proved they have a strong character and always kept the steering wheel in their hands. They didn’t find the right route straight away, but slowly got on that path.

“Walter Mazzarri knows what he’s doing and has a lot of experience, but Torino have been playing 3-5-2, then 4-3-2-1 after 4-3-3. We’ll have to see what they’ve got in wait for us.

“We’ve kept five consecutive clean sheets because we got the whole team involved in defending and that makes the difference. When we work for each other, we all benefit.”

Joao Miranda is in the squad, but needs a late fitness test, while Matias Vecino misses out.

“Andrea Belotti is a good test for our defence, but so is Iago Falque, who has scored many goals and I know very well. He has an exceptional foot. Everybody knows what Adem Ljajic can do. They have a lot of quality in attack.

“Belotti has what it takes to be a hitman, but we’ve faced others of the same level and did well, so I have confidence in our abilities to close him down.”
