Lucas Vazquez has reiterated that ‘of course it was a penalty’ for Real Madrid against Juventus and branded critics ‘jealous’ of their success.

Vazquez won Madrid’s dramatic spot-kick to knock Juve out of the Champions League last week, although replays showed the contact between the winger and Medhi Benatia may have been minimal.

“Many people are happy with our bad results,” he said after Los Blancos’ 2-1 win at Malaga on Sunday.

“It hurts them to see that we’ve reached eight [Champions League] semi-finals in a row and creates jealousy on their part.

“We must learn to live with these remarks and accept that this is what they want to focus on.

“Our penalty against Juventus? Of course it was a penalty, but it’s being discussed more in Spain than it is in Italy.”
