Sevilla are expected to sack Vincenzo Montella following the club’s 5-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey Final.

According to Mundo Deportivo, an emergency meeting was due to be held on Tuesday, but the case surrounding former Juventus target Steven N’Zonzi, who partied just hours after the thrashing, forced the Spaniards to bring it forward.

The newspaper notes it was there that Montella’s fate was decided, with former boss Joaquin Caparros lined up for the rest of the season.

The ex-Milan and Roma Coach only took charge of the Andalusians in December, replacing Eduardo Berizzo – who was fired just weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.

However, despite leading the side into the Champions League quarter-finals and Copa Final, the Italian has overseen a dramatic loss of form in La Liga, leaving them at risk of missing out on European football next season.
