“If it keeps going like this, I won’t deny that sooner or later I’ll buy Milan back,” confessed Silvio Berlusconi at a political rally.
The businessman, media mogul and former Prime Minister of Italy was in charge of the club for 30 years until selling up to Yonghong Li in a deal worth €740m.
Berlusconi was at a political rally for his Forza Italia party in Udine this evening and spoke to the crowd.
“The way things are going, I’ll end up buying Milan back again,” he said.
Berlusconi also suggested polls had told him selling the club was one of the reasons why his Forza Italia party “against all expectations was stuck at 14-14.5 per cent” of the vote in recent elections.
“Many stop me and ask why I sold the club to who knows who and they blame me for the conditions of the current squad.
“I will confess something. If it keeps going like this, I won’t deny that sooner or later I’ll buy Milan back.”
The Rossoneri are due to face Financial Fair Play restrictions and it remains to be seen if Li will be able to repay his loans to Elliott Management.
