Orsato came under fire for his decisions to send off Matias Vecino early on and not show Miralem Pjanic a second yellow card, with Juve going on to win 3-2 on Sunday, having trailed Inter 2-1 at one stage.

Nonetheless, FIFA has selected the 42-year-old as one of its 13 VAR officials for the World Cup, alongside fellow Italians Massimiliano Irrati and Paolo Valeri.

The trio join Serie A colleague Gianluca Rocchi, who is going to Russia as a match referee.
