There have been reports and complaints from fans that De Vrij will play for Lazio in next week’s showdown for a Champions League spot when he has already signed to join Inter as a free agent.

“I don’t understand why people are acting as if De Vrij is a scoop or an exclusive. Everyone knows where De Vrij will be playing next season.

“We always respected him, Lazio and our own players. He never held back in any other game for Lazio and will continue to play like this, as he is a professional, just as we are professional and so are Lazio.”

Inter also have to work out their loan deals with option to buy for Rafinha from Barcelona and Valencia’s Joao Cancelo.

“We are very happy to have Rafinha and Joao Cancelo with us, despite so many claiming one was broken and the other unknown.

“We’ll try to do what’s possible and impossible by June 30 to keep them, but the market opens on May 20 and we’ll try to improve this squad, with or without those two in it.”
