UEFA announced disciplinary proceedings were opened into both Roma and Liverpool for crowd disturbances in the Champions League semi-final.
The investigation so far regards only the first leg match played at Anfield on April 24.
It saw Liverpool fan Sean Cox struck by two Roma ultras, later arrested and still awaiting sentencing, and left with a serious head injury.

“Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg match between Liverpool FC and AS Roma (5-2), played on 24 April in England,” read the statement.
“Charges against Liverpool FC:
– Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations
– Throwing of objects – Art. 16 (2) DR
– Crowd disturbances – Art. 16 (2) DR
Charges against AS Roma:
– Crowd disturbances – Art. 16 (2) DR
“This case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 31 May.”
