Milan CEO Marco Fassone insists the club will still look to bring in ‘2-3 players’, even without Europa League football.

Milan risk expulsion from European competitions after their Financial Fair Play settlement was rejected by UEFA, but Fassone made it clear the Rossoneri would still be active in the transfer market.

“This is a routine board meeting, the objective was to approve our accounts quarterly, which became mandatory as of the 2018-19 campaign, and we approve of them. It’s been good and positive quarterly analysis,” he announced.

“We’ve also touched on the topic of UEFA at board level, the increase in capital and minor issues.

“Capital increase? The total increase in capital to be achieved is €40m, €10m plus €30m. The most complicated part of the refinancing is that of the holding company, for which there’s nothing imminent.

“As for the refinancing of Milan’s debt, it is a simpler mechanism. As soon as there’s a breakthrough with the holding company, it’d be quite quick.

“UEFA’s ruling isn’t final. If Milan were to be excluded from European competitions, there would be a decrease in revenue, which I would take into account for this summer.

“However, the fact that we don’t expect any arrivals or departures in the next two weeks isn’t linked to the UEFA ruling.

“Should there be lower revenue, there could be a squeeze in purchases, which I’d foreseen.

“New signings? I’ve tried to be transparent and clear with the fans. Regardless of our participation in the Europa League, they’ll come.

“There won’t be 10 new players but two or three and clearly I still have to understand how much we can pay, but [no EL] won’t affect that.

“I hope we’ve given the clearest possible messages of absolute transparency as a club.”
