Ancelotti signed a three-year contract to replace Maurizio Sarri this week and it’s his return to Serie A for the first time since leaving Milan in 2009.

“Ancelotti is a maestro for me and I am very happy for him,” former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso told Sky Sport Italia.

“I played against his Milan when I was at Liverpool and had the opportunity to get to know him and appreciate the work of his staff.

“I have many friends at Napoli, including Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon. It means next season I’ll be cheering on the Partenopei and might even come to Naples to attend a game.”
