Chelsea had been expected to pay the sum, but refused to go ahead with it, asking Sarri to extricate himself from the contract first.

Sportitalia caught up with Sarri’s agent, Alessandro Pellegrini, and he made some surprising comments when asked about the situation.

“I don’t know who Chelsea are, are they a football club? We only know about Napoli. If I knew what was going to happen, I'd have bought a lottery ticket."

This follows reports on Sky Sports that Chelsea were put off by Sarri's previous 'behaviour,' specifically a homophobic slur he aimed at Roberto Mancini.
