Rugani has emerged as a prime candidate to bolster Chelsea’s defence next season, and Davide Torchia appeared open to the idea of the Italy starlet reuniting with his former Empoli boss at Stamford Bridge.

“It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first,” he told Sportitalia.

“It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first,” he told Sportitalia.

“After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.”

The broadcaster claims the Blues have raised their bid for Rugani to €40m and proposed him a five-year contract worth over €3.5m a season.

However, the Bianconeri would be holding out for an option to repurchase the 23-year-old so they can ‘protect themselves’.
