The 20-year-old replaced Nerazzurri legend Diego Milito on his professional debut for Racing and went on to score 26 goals in 58 appearances for the club.

He joined Mauro Icardi in Argentina’s provisional World Cup squad but, like his new teammate, was not among the 23 who travelled to Russia.

Martinez, who turns 21 next month, is primarily a centre-forward and two-footed but can also play as a second striker.
