Ronaldo’s €105m transfer to Juve has been greeted with huge enthusiasm, with a player regularly touted as the world’s best heading to Serie A, but some have also suggested that it could broaden the gap between the Bianconeri and their rivals, including Spalletti’s Inter.

“Ronaldo? His arrival gives strength and exposure to our League,” said the Coach at his first Press conference of the new season.

“However, ours was once the best in the world and if you went for it, you didn’t hope your rivals would weaken. Instead, you wanted to be the best of the best.

“Ronaldo’s arrival is one of those impulses that we must engage in so that we can give new life to the previous mechanism.

“It has the air of a great challenge for us and great football, and this is good for our game. However, no-one can make us feel inferior without our consent.”
