“This is a special day for me, because I am closing an important chapter of my life. The years I spent in Naples were those of my maturity, as a man and a player,” wrote the Italy international on Instagram.
“My son Vitor is Neapolitan and my heart is with the Azzurri, the colours I defended with all of myself for these five years. A jersey that I felt was mine from the first day and that gave me so much joy, so many victories and a few records because we were a great group, joyful and very united.
“Individually, I am so proud to have earned a call to the Italy squad. Today I am beginning a new adventure in one of Europe’s biggest clubs, which is crazy for me coming from a small city in the Brazilian provinces.
“For all of this, I feel the need to thank my teammates over these years, the staff, the kit staff, therapists, club SSC Napoli and above all the NEAPOLITANS, fans and not, of all ages, who truly everywhere around the world (seriously, how many of you are there?!!) always gave me that extra boost to do more for these colours.

Jorginho then concluded with a phrase in Neapolitan dialect that means ‘you’re in my heart.’
