The Diavolo have now been taken over by Elliott Management after the Chinese owner failed to pay his debts, and Gazzetta dello Sport there is a three-pronged strategy to have the verdict overturned.

Firstly it will be pointed out that Elliott and Paul Singer are well known within the financial world, and don’t represent the unknown quantity that Li did.

Secondly, Milan will argue that there are no imminent debts or refinancing deadlines after the hedge fund’s takeover.

Finally, the club will seek to argue that the likes of Inter, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been treated less harshly.

The hearing will begin at 9.30 local time, with UEFA expected to essentially argue the same motives which saw them exclude Milan in the first place.

They will also point out though, that while Elliott may have stabilised Milan it has only done so for a future sale.

The hearing will conclude at around 18.00, with a verdict expected shortly after that.
