Aurelio De Laurentiis has closed the door on a Napoli return for Edinson Cavani. “I haven’t signed him and won’t sign him.”

Cavani had been increasingly linked with a move back to Napoli, where he scored over 100 goals in three seasons, but De Laurentiis put a stop to the speculation, while opening up on the Partenopei’s search for a right-back.

“Cavani? I haven’t signed him and won’t sign him,” the President told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“There were no phone calls with his representatives. Newspapers have to sell copies, they’re going into crisis and without these headlines, they can’t survive.

“[Arturo] Vidal to Napoli? False. He’s someone I followed many years ago, but now I’m looking for younger players who are usable in the long run.

“Lainer or Arias t right-back? There are as many as six names in our shortlist. Arias is a player we like, while the negotiations stopped for Lainer because his representatives behaved badly, so we closed the door on him.

“Today, three great players in our squad return, Milik, Zielinski and Koulibaly. We already have top players at home.”
