Chelsea are the favourites to secure Higuain’s signature, with the 30-year-old having previously worked with new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri while the duo were at Napoli.

However, the Rossoneri have upped their interest in the last 24 hours, with new owners Elliott Management keen to make a statement of intent in the transfer market.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Rossoneri have made contact with Higuain’s entourage, offering a four-year deal.

Although negoatiations are now open, the Italian daily doubts the terms will be accepted, given that the player earns around €7m on his current contract at Juve.

Should Higuain and Milan come to an agreement, the Bianconeri are said to be prepared to allow the forward to leave for a fee of €60m.
