Antonio Cassano admits he would “love to play for Bologna, as it’s an incredible club and city.”

The out of contract veteran just turned 36 and hasn’t played since January 2017, as he started pre-season training at Hellas Verona last summer and then gave it up two weeks later.

He now wants back in to Serie A and has been linked with Pippo Inzaghi’s Bologna.

“I would love to play for Bologna, as it’s an incredible club and city,” FantAntonio told Radio Deejay.

“They revitalised the careers of Roberto Baggio, Beppe Signori and Marco Di Vaio. I think it is the ideal place to play football and aim for something more than just Serie A safety.

“In Bologna they don’t like mediocrity or the ordinary, while I don’t play for money. I play only for passion now, as I’ve earned everything I needed to. If I was playing for money, I’d have accepted a proposal from China.

“So far there are no open doors, but I have been training regularly and lost 10kg in four months.”

Cassano has no doubts about who will be lifting the Serie A trophy again this season.

Juventus are like Usain Bolt, you know they’ve won before the starting pistol.”
