The Aquile lost both Serie A games so far, fumbling a lead with Napoli and falling to Juventus, so the pressure is on against newly-promoted local rivals Frosinone.

“It’s an important match and we cannot underestimate it, nor afford any more mistakes,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We analysed the two defeats and there were some things that worked, others that didn’t, but we all have the same thoughts on how to progress.

“Without doubt, a victory would be a morale boost. Don’t forget we ended last season with a huge disappointment of missing out on the Champions League after a great campaign, which began with the Italian Super Cup victory over Juventus, so we are carrying some of that baggage.

“It would’ve been better for us to face sides like Napoli and Juve later in the campaign rather than straight away, but we can’t do anything about the fixture list. This team is mature and will respond.

“People expect a lot from Lazio because we finished in fifth place unexpectedly for two years in a row.

“We must show respect for Frosinone, who won’t come here to just give us the points.”

Inzaghi has a poor record against Frosinone Coach Moreno Longo, losing all three meetings when he was in charge of the Lazio Primavera youth team.

“Those would’ve been three draws after 90 minutes, as I lost twice in extra time and once in a penalty shoot-out. Longo is meticulous and we know he’ll create problems for us, so we need patience and a strong mentality.”

Lazio have to kick into gear quickly, because they’ll also face a very tough Europa League group with Olympique Marseille, Eintracht Frankfurt and Apollon Limassol.

“The draw wasn’t as kind to us this season, but anyone who gets to the group stage deserves respect anyway. Marseille reached the Europa League Final against Atletico Madrid, Apollon knocked out Basel and Eintracht won the German Cup.”
