Eder believes Inter are ‘the real anti-Juventus’ and can beat Barcelona in the Champions League this season.
Inter came back from behind to clinch a 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur in their Champions League opener, and Eder is confident the result will act as a ‘turning point’ in his former club’s campaign.
“When I saw Vecino’s goal in stoppage time against Tottenham, it didn’t seem real to me,” the ex-Nerazzurri attacker, who now plys his trade in China, told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I relived the same emotions as I felt during Lazio-Inter. At San Siro there’s a crazy level of support: with that push, they can also beat Barcelona. We’ll pass our group.
“Tuesday’s victory in the Champions League could be the turning point of the season. Inter are very strong and are the real ‘anti-Juventus’, the only team who can challenge them for the Scudetto.
“Roma don’t seem all that to me and will drop off. Napoli are a team to be wary of but are individually inferior.
“The League is long and Inter, having changed a lot, need time. During preseason, Spalletti spoke about the Scudetto to the team. We must go for it.
“Unbeatable Juventus with Cristiano Ronaldo? They’ve bought some extraordinary players. CR7 is a champion and that’s not up for discussion. He’ll score a lot and is the favourite to be topscorer.
“Then there’s Cancelo. We played together last season: he’ll do great things.”
The 31-year-old then spoke glowingly about his old strike partner Mauro Icardi, who can become ‘the best in Europe’.
“Icardi’s a world beater,” he added.
“He’s often criticised unfairly because he doesn’t work that hard defensively, but no-one is like him in front of goal.
“He’s also improving without the ball, and he can become the best in Serie A and Europe.”
