Inter and Napoli have avoided any sanction for fans setting off flares, after demonstrating they did everything in their power to prevent it.
There are strict liability regulations in force in Serie A, meaning each club is responsible the behaviour of their own fans.
The Giudice Sportivo found that both Inter and Napoli fans set off “pyrotechnic material of various kinds” in their respective matches though “exclusively in their own section”.
Ordinarily that would earn both clubs both clubs a fine, but article 13 of the FIGC’s Codice di Giustizia Sportiva states that this can be avoided as long as clubs take preventative measures, co-operate with law enforcement, immediately act to stop illicit actions, dissociate themselves from the behaviour and can prove all of the above.
Both clubs have met those criteria, and so will face no sanction.
On the pitch, Sassuolo’s Rogerio has been given a one match ban for his red card, and Felipe Dias of Spal will also sit out Week 9 after picking up a fifth booking of the season.
