Coach Gigi Di Biagio insists Italy “would’ve felt a draw wasn’t enough” after their friendly defeat to Belgium.
The Azzurrini continue their build-up to the European Under-21 Championships and will host Tunisia on Monday evening.
They pushed forward for long periods in Udine today, but Luca Valzania only hit the post in stoppages, whereas Francis Amuzu was on target with a scorcher.
“If this game had ended in a draw, we would’ve thought it wasn’t enough considering the performances of the two teams,” Di Biagio told Rai Sport.
“I saw some good things, Belgium scored in one of their rare attacking moves. Our team is growing, we played good football and let’s not forget that Belgium are a very strong side.
“Perhaps we’ll meet here again in Udine.”
The Dacia Arena is the host stadium for the Euro 2019 Final.
