Sinisa Mihajlovic said he has “turned down two or three offers in Italy, because I want an experience in Europe or Asia,” but will watch the Milan Derby.

The former Fiorentina, Bologna, Milan and Torino Coach was meant to be at Sporting CP this season, but he was fired within days of taking the job, as a boardroom coup ousted the club President who had hired him.

That is currently the subject of a lawsuit Mihajlovic has taken out against the Portuguese side.

“I turned down two or three offers in Italy, because I want an experience in Europe or Asia,” the Serbian told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m a bit fed up of being in Italy. Maybe I’ll return in five or six years. I did have a few offers from abroad, but we didn’t work out terms for one reason or another. Sometimes it wasn’t right for me, sometimes it wasn’t right for them.”

Mihajlovic spent most of his career in Italy at Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter, while he also married an Italian woman.

He will be keeping a close eye on the Derby della Madonnina next weekend, having represented both Milan and Inter.

“It’s always a special game and usually the favourite going in tends to lose, but this time they are both more or less on the same level.

“I hope to see an entertaining game with a packed stadium. It’s less fiery in Milan than the derby in Rome, so I’m cheering on both teams, as I was happy at both. Maybe I’ll hope for a draw.

“When it came to the Rome Derby, I always cheered on Lazio.”
