“I think we had a fantastic game in the first half, we were so eager and had the chances. We couldn’t press continually for 90 minutes, so there was bound to be a dip in intensity as time wore on,” the youngster told Rai Sport.

“I don’t think it was a step backwards at all from the Poland game. It was against the reigning champions of Europe, don’t forget.

“We need to score more goals, but we are working and they’ll come with time.”
