Roma have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Barcelona midfielder as his father confirms ‘we’re considering an exit’.

Rafinha has made just four Liga appearances for Barca since returning from a loan spell at Inter, and Roma have been linked with bringing the Brazilian back to Serie A.

“Rafinha doesn’t understand the [selection] situation,” ex-Fiorentina man Mazinho told Sport.

“Only the Coach can answer that question and we’re focused on making sure Rafinha plays regular first-team football, which is currently not happening.

“He will get a run of games and play well, but then he’s dropped so it doesn’t seem like an ideal situation for him at this point.

“We’re considering an exit because this situation isn’t what we want. He needs to be playing 30 or 40 games a season and that won’t happen here.

“He wants a regular run of games, there are clubs interested who would be able to give him it and we believe Barca would give a sale the green light.”
