A linesman in Italy’s eighth tier has been given a five year ban from football, for headbutting one of the players.

On November 25 a match between A.S.D. Buggerru and Monreale Calcio was in the second half when a Monreale player who had been substituted tried to grab the ball by the sideline to get play restarted quickly.

That resulted in a scuffle with the assistant referee, who had been designated by Buggerru, and the official landed a headbutt on the Monreale man.
