Rafa Benitez believes Mohamed Salah and Lorenzo Insigne will decide whether Liverpool or Napoli win Tuesday’s crunch clash in the Champions League.

Benitez has coached both clubs, winning the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005, and they face off at Anfield this week, with a place in the last 16 at stake.

“I could say many players, both from Liverpool and Napoli: on the one hand Mane, Firmino, Sturridge; on the other Callejon, Mertens, Albiol, Koulibaly,” he told Corriere delllo Sport.

“However, if I’m asked about one from each side then I say Salah and Insigne.”

The Newcastle United boss then remembered the ‘unique disappointment’ of the Partenopei’s failure to qualify for the 2013-14 knockout stages, despite them taking 12 points from their six group games.

“It was a disappointment that was difficult to swallow,” he added.

“It was a unique case in the Champions League. I’m sure something like that will never happen again, but I imagine Napoli used that experience to grow.”
