Dries Mertens, Mauro Icardi and Kwadwo Asamoah are among the players to show support to Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, after he was racially abused by Inter fans.

The centre-back was subjected to vile chants throughout last night’s match, with the Partenopei asking repeatedly for the match to be suspended, but to no avail.

Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi posted a picture of himself with Koulibaly on Instagram as a show of support.

“I am disappointed by what happened yesterday at San Siro,” Icardi wrote.

“We say ‘enough’ to racism and discrimination.”

Koulibaly’s teammate Mertens responded on Twitter, writing “you’re one of the best people I know, please never change. Don’t react to this bull, let’s resist together”.

Another Inter star, Kwadwo Asamoah simply posted “let’s love each other, black or white”.

Fellow Senegal international Sadio Mane wrote "I am bitter, not to say bruised and dismayed by what you have experienced. But I know you well enough that these abominable acts will not affect you at all. We are proud of our race and we will continue to defend it, as we defend the colours of our homeland.”
