Fiorentina have reportedly shut the door on Manchester United’s hopes of signing Nikola Milenkovic this month.

It had been reported that United were willing to offer Andreas Pereira in exchange for Milenkovic, but Fiorentinanews.com claims the club have taken the position that ‘the defender won’t move in January’.

The website explains the Serbian will see the season out at the Artemio Franchi but does not rule out a summer switch, even if he is likely to command ‘a very high fee of around €50m’.

The 21-year-old joined the Viola from Partizan Belgrade in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to cement himself as the club’s first-choice right-back, although he can also play in central defence.

United, meanwhile, are seemingly on the lookout for a new right-back as Antonio Valencia is being linked with Inter.
