Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo ruled out Gregoire Defrel’s move to Newcastle United. “Dawid Kownacki is the player leaving.”
There had been reports over the last couple of days that former Roma and Sassuolo striker Defrel was close to a €15m transfer to the Premier League club.
However, in today’s Press conference, Samp Coach Giampaolo poured cold water over those suggestions.

However, in today’s Press conference, Samp Coach Giampaolo poured cold water over those suggestions.
“Kownacki is the player leaving, so Defrel is staying here. These decisions have already been made and shared with the club.”
It’s believed Poland international Kownacki is heading towards the Bundesliga for Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Defrel scored six goals in his first 12 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria, but hasn’t found the net since November 11.
