The Orobici are in ebullient mood after fighting back from 3-0 down to hold Roma 3-3 in Serie A and crushing Juventus 3-0 in the midweek Coppa Italia quarter-final.

“We beat Cagliari 2-0 in the Coppa Italia last month, but this will be a very different game,” warned the Coach in his Press conference.

“We are in good shape and proved that against Juventus. We’re very happy with that performance, but also because we are still in the running for all our objectives.

“It won’t be remotely simple against Cagliari. There’s no point playing on the counter-attack, as that is not our style. The atmosphere will be fiery and we want the win, as there is a whole second half of the season to play for.

“We’ve got to put the Coppa Italia and Juventus behind us, as we can only focus on Cagliari and making the most of our own characteristics so we can stay in the top group of the table.”

Ilicic is not 100 per cent fit, having limped off against Juve with a bruised hip, so Musa Barrow could well start.

“We’ll evaluate Ilicic in training. He’ll certainly be in the squad, but it remains to be seen if he’ll play from the start or come off the bench.”
