“Payment for Piatek in one go? I would’ve asked for more if not,” he told Sky Sport italia.

Genoa have confirmed that Juventus are ‘very interested’ in signing Cristian Romero but insist ‘we’d like to keep’ the defender.

Romero failed to secure a move to Juve last month and will see out the season with Genoa, but President Enrico Preziosi made it clear his club would try to hold on to the Argentine.

“Payment for Piatek in one go? I would’ve asked for more if not,” he told Sky Sport italia.

“It was an interesting deal for us and him, even if he annoyed the fans. I’m happy that he’s started very well at Milan. I gave them an important player and he gave us moments of satisfaction.

“Sanabria? He was an already-known talent. He wasn’t mature at Roma, but today he can make the difference.

“Regrets over Pjaca or Zaniolo? I had to choose between Zaniolo and Valietti and I don’t regret it.

“Valietti will prove to be a great player. I’d already bought Spinelli and Piatek, so I didn’t need another forward.

“Romero? Juve are very interested, but we’d like to keep him. Threats and banners directed at me? I won’t make a big deal about it.

“It’s disappointing to require an escort when I enter Genoa’s stadium, so I prefer not to attend at all.

“In time, Genoa fans will understand that the deals we’ve done have been for the good of the club.

“Selling the club? I’m available if someone thinks they can do better than me.”
