The 33-year-old has sat out six games in Serie A so far this season, while he was rested by Coach Carlo Ancelotti in the Coppa Italia.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spaniard has been struggling with a troublesome issue in his right knee since the start of the season, and has flown to Barcelona to see a consultant.
