Bologna regularly tested Robin Olsen in the first half but failed to take any of their chances, while Roma scored with their first two opportunities after the restart.

“If you don’t take your chances against Roma then they punish you at the first opportunity,” Mihajlovic said after the game.

“We created 7-8 openings, so it’s absurd to lose a game in which even a draw would’ve been tight. I can’t fault my players, I can only thank them for the great game they had.

“We must improve our finishing, but the important thing is that the team are playing with authority. We’re on the right track.

“Helander? I didn’t see the incident. It could’ve been a penalty, but mistakes can happen and Filip had a great game.

“We can still do better in some aspects, such as our finishing and marking from set plays, but we’ve gone to Milan and Rome while playing openly, and results follow when we put in performances like these.

“I’d be more worried if we’d equalised playing badly.”
